Ephesus SDA Church Makes History at San Antonio Rodeo

In a historic milestone, Ephesus SDA Church became the first church ever invited to participate in the 76-year history of the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. This unprecedented opportunity placed the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the spotlight before thousands of rodeo attendees and opened doors for meaningful community engagement.

Operating under the name "Eastside Eats: The Ephesus Experience" and inspired by the scripture Psalm 34:8 -- "Taste and see that the Lord is good" -- the church team served a fully plant-based menu that delighted and surprised rodeo-goers. The creative and flavorful dishes challenged assumptions about plant-based cuisine and introduced many attendees to healthful eating for the first time.

The culinary operation was led by Head Chef Kenneth York, with expert assistance from Kris Brown and Larry Carter. Together, they prepared delicious meals that kept visitors coming back for more throughout the event. The quality and presentation of the food earned rave reviews and positioned the church as a standout vendor among the rodeo's food offerings.

Beyond the food service, the Ephesus team seized the opportunity to share literature about health, wellness, and faith with attendees. Team members also offered prayers with visitors, creating moments of spiritual connection amid the festive atmosphere of the rodeo. Many individuals expressed gratitude for the warmth and hospitality extended by the church volunteers.

This groundbreaking participation demonstrates the Adventist commitment to meeting people where they are and sharing the love of Christ through practical ministry. Ephesus SDA Church has set a powerful precedent for community engagement that other churches across the Southwest Region can follow.
